Just this week I had to replace the bearings in my saw's lower wheel and afterwards put on a new Woodmaster CT. I resawed a bunch of 8"+ cocobolo, ziricote, Macassar ebony, and black and white ebony all like they were lightweight mahogany, and the blade is still just as sharp as when I put it on. If you can tension it properly it's a brilliant blade.

I rarely go negative on any forum but just can't let this pass because I feel obligated to save others from grief. Just in case someone doesn't yet have the drift:

I bought two Resaw King blades, 1" I think. They meandered all over the place and no amount of adjustment could keep that from happening. They went back to Laguna for regrinding, as their "customer service" assured me that the problem was easily fixed. When they came back, no change. They are now in the landfill, replaced by the Woodmaster CT which works just fine. (From Spectrum Supply, as Bob suggests.)

I won't even start on the episode three or four years ago when I tried to buy a Laguna saw that they swore was in their warehouse but they could never see fit to actually ship to me over a period of several weeks.

When I hear positive reports about Laguna, I am baffled. I'd much rather have equipment that works.

Well, I love the saw, and the customer service I've had from them has been pretty good, all in all.

I don't get on here much but am fairly active on several other forums, so when I saw something about the Resaw King blade I had to check it out. I love my 14 SUV saw and the 1" RK blade (have a second one on standby). I've been using it for over a year now and I can't find anything wrong with the blade or the machine. Hate to go against the tide but that's just how it performs for me - flawlessly.

Here's a video of a cut we made a few months ago and I assure you it wasn't that difficult -

Oddly enough, that set very nearly made it into my shop.

I'm glad your setup is working for you. How many cuts have you gotten off that blade before dulling?

That blade has been on the saw since I got it Oct 2014. I've cut probably 25 sets of backs and sides and used it for dozens of other cuts. Seems like I am always using it for something. We made 27 small cutting boards and I cut them all on that. If it's dull then 'dull' is working just fine. [:Y:]

Just for grins, here's the video of the cutting boards -

I guess all is relative. I went from 0 sets to about 25 in my first year of having the saw. I thought I was cutting a lot! LOL!

Oh, well. I'm on Build #1 and #2 with 20+ sets waiting so looks like I need to stop cutting and finish building.

Hi, I have to say that I'm happy too with my RK blades. I use three since two years for resawing mostly ebony and rosewood, I made something about 30-40 acoustic sets, 70 fingerboards, 70 solid body tops and of course a big bunch of various little works.
But, I bought one this summer, I received it in a bad packaging, and the blade was a little damaged. A friend bought one in the same summer and got one with a broken teeth...

PS : You could see some of my woods resawed here ;)

The common Woodmaster is 1" X 1.3 tpi. They don't come any smaller.

To go smaller you'll have to use the Trimaster $$$

No sir, not a troll. I'm just a Technology Sales guy who's been in woodworking over 40 years and getting into building guitars. I just don't frequent this forum as much as I should; there's a boat load of resources here I'm missing out on by not being very active! I'm very active on several other Luthier and woodworking forums, though, for what that's worth. I was actually quite surprised to hear the negative slant on the RK blade because I've had such good results and the company has been very good on service but I have no connection to Laguna at all other than being a satisfied customer.

Meat blades?

Well, there is still the possibility that better setup of the saw might help.

When I sawed my bubinga side billets though, it literally pulled the wood down so hard that it chattered hard enough to turn the throat plate irreversibly concave. Not just a little bit either.

Sometime I'll start a new thread on getting it set up exactly right...

I'm not an expert but I've had better luck sawing off the billet.
